Upcoming change: Blackboard Learn integration

What is changing — Breakout will support Blackboard Learn as a connected LMS, alongside the existing Canvas and D2L/Brightspace integrations. Institutions using Blackboard Learn will be able to add Breakout assignments to their courses, launch them from Blackboard, and have grades sent back to the Blackboard gradebook.

Who is affected — LMS administrators and instructors at institutions that use Blackboard Learn. Nothing changes for Canvas or D2L/Brightspace courses.

What you need to do — Nothing, unless your institution uses Blackboard Learn and wants to connect it. In that case, your Breakout account partner will share the setup steps for your Blackboard administrator.

When — November 20, 2026.
